This app provides the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible with official notes and also quick access to the Latin Vulgate for each verse.
The Latin Vulgate is a translation from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts by Saint Jerome (345–420). The Council of Trent in 1546 declared that the Latin Vulgate must be "held as authentic; and that no one is to dare, or presume to reject it under any pretext whatever." In 1943, Pope Pius XII stated that the Latin Vulgate is “free from any error whatsoever in matters of faith and morals.”
The Douay–Rheims Bible is a faithful English translation of the Latin Vulgate that has been used since 1582.
